Sidmouth Town Council are delighted to announce that the Pothole Posse volunteers have reached their 500th pothole repair. The honour of 500th repair went to the holes outside The Beacon Medical centre.

Posse organiser and road warden Councillor Paul Dodds said “we wanted to make the 500th hole to be something the whole community benefitted from so took on the extensive work at the junction of Sedemuda Road and Stowford Rise. This was our biggest job to date. Not only do users driving to the surgery benefit, so do pedestrians , young mums with prams and mobility scooter users trying to cross the road.
The repair of roads is Devon County Council’s statutory duty. Sidmouth Town Council and volunteer Posses help DCC . DCC provide training, insurance and materials. The Road Warden Scheme is in its 9th year.The posses have now fixed 550 holes in The Valley.

The latest five to be fixed were by The Library by Sidmouth Citizen of the Year Sylvia Brownlee , Pete Blackmore, Paul Dodds assisted by Winchesters fruit and Veg! The next posses will form in 2 months time. If you would like to join the gang of 25 volunteers contact Councillor Paul Dodds.
