Arboretum Information Board unveiled in the Knowle
Cllr Hilary Nelson, Chair of Sidmouth Town Council, unveiled a new information board about the Sidmouth Arboretum in the Knowle on 17th September.
The Board celebrates the formation in 2012 of the Arboretum as the first Civic Arboretum in the country. It also highlights the more recent work of the Arboretum in planting 14,000 trees, one for every resident of the Sid Valley, the labelling of many of the trees to educate people about the trees living around us, and the tree trails that allow residents and visitors alike to enjoy the Sid Valley and find many of the iconic trees.
The Arboreum became a Charity in 2023 and is supported by the Town Council, East Devon National Landscape as well as by members of the public.
