Parade meeting outside Co-op at 10.15am and marching through town to the War Memorial at Sidmouth Parish Church for the service

Parade of serving and former armed forces personnel, alongside representatives of service cadets, emergency services and young peoples groups to the War Memorial. The parade, headed by Sidmouth Town Band will move off at approximately 10.30am from the top of the High Street, making its way to the War Memorial via the Market Place. At the War Memorial, an Act of Remembrance will take place including the sounding of Last Post and a two minutes silence.

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. The Town and Country will remember the Armed Forces, their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth and the vital role played by the emergency services alongside those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

Remembrance Sunday has grown in its size each year both nationally and in Sidmouth in particular and this has been reflected by the numbers of people both taking part and observing the parade and Act of Remembrance. For serving personnel, veterans or other service representatives wishing to take part, they should be in place no later than 10.15am at the top of High Street.

On Monday 11 November, a short service to and two minutes silence will be held at the War Memorial on Armistice Day commemorating the signing of the Armistice which brought an end to the First World War and remembers all those who gave their lives in service to their country since 1914.
