New National Lottery Grant Fund

A new grant fund opens on the 1st September from the National Lottery. It will provide funding of between £1000-£10,000 for community groups, charities, CICs and Statutory bodies including Local authorities.

It will focus on the following priority areas

  • Food
  • Transport
  • Energy
  • Waste and consumption
  • Natural environment

The grant fund opens on the 1st September and will close on the 18th November. Applications from new groups and groups that have not previously applied are especially encouraged. The funding will need to be used within 12 months.

Examples of areas that can be covered by the funding:

  • community-led research, feasibility studies or work to create a plan as to how and what climate action will look like for your community
  • events and activity costs
  • equipment and materials
  • staff costs (proportionate to the funded activity)
  • training costs
  • transport costs related to your project (not the costs of travel to and from the COP26 event)
  • utilities or running costs related to your project
  • volunteer expenses
  • costs associated with delivering your project bilingually, like translation costs
  • small land or building projects
