Tracey and Simon West, poets and former hosts of ‘Vittles and Verse’ in Lyme Regis, invite you to enjoy ‘Wordplay in Sidmouth’, a night of poetry, prose and all forms of spoken word.
Creative writers, embrace the opportunity to perform your work in front of a welcoming and supportive audience. If you’d prefer to sit and listen to the performers, you’ll be welcomed too.
We’ll endeavour to deliver a locally curated, entertaining evening full of stanza-based surprise, literary high leg lifts and metrical inspiration.
In the dictionary, ‘Wordplay’ is defined as ‘the witty exploitation of the meanings and ambiguities of words’. Sounds about right!
Wordplay is a convivial fundraiser for local environmental charity, Word Forest. Money raised over and above the hall hire will be used to reforest Kenya, where trees grow up to 10 times faster than they do in the UK.
Soft beverages and a few plant-based nibbles will be available to buy, to make your evening complete!
