Higher Wiscombe set out to “provide the highest quality sustainable tourism at the heart of East Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. Their vision includes:
- Non chemical bio plant, fed from their own springs which discharges clean water
- A biomass boiler for all heating, using local woodchip
- Insulation and double glazing to high standards and low energy light bulbs
- No chemicals on site, all cleaning is done with eco-cleaners and miracle cloths
- Using recycled and local materials in the restoration of the buildings. Local flint and timber, recycled bricks and oak from the original barns
- Using local labour for the build and ongoing maintenance
- Efficient recycling scheme with dedicated recycling area recycling all food waste
