New Headlight Peer Support Group

New Headlight peer support group launches in Sidmouth to support young people’s mental health

A new Headlight peer support group is launching in Sidmouth this September, offering free, long term support for young people who are struggling with their mental health.

Headlight is an Action East Devon programme providing safe, supportive spaces where young people can meet others who may be experiencing similar challenges. The groups are facilitated by trained adults, with a strong focus on peer support, reducing isolation and helping young people feel understood and less alone.

The new Sidmouth group will be open to young people aged 13–18 and will meet fortnightly on a Monday evening, at Twyford House in the town centre.

The launch comes in response to a recognised need for accessible mental health support for young people in the area. Headlight aims to provide support at an early stage, including for young people who may be waiting for other mental health services.  Alongside the group sessions, young people attending Headlight will also have access to regular one-to-one wellbeing support, offering a safe space to talk through challenges and work towards small, individual goals at their own pace.

We’re really pleased to be bringing Headlight to Sidmouth and hope the group will become an important source of support for young people and their families in the local community.

Headlight already operates groups across East Devon, including in Axminster, Seaton and Ottery St Mary. The Sidmouth launch forms part of the programme’s ongoing work to make free peer support available to more young people across the district.  Headlight Honiton is also being launched in September 2026.

Referrals for Headlight Sidmouth are now being accepted. Young people, parents/carers and professionals who would like to find out more about the group are encouraged to get in touch.
