Community Food Forest Sidford Stewarded
Running to nearly half an acre the Community Food Forest is unlike many other gardens in that it is a community garden run by volunteers, open to everyone 24/7, with an objective of providing food whilst increasing biodiversity and social cohesion. It is three years old and is far from maturity,
however seven layers of a food forest are already evident: canopy trees to small trees and climbers underplanted with perennial herbaceous root, fruit and leaf crops. It breaks from the traditional feel of organised garden rows and follows a random permaculture design ethos, just like nature designed. From mulberries to tea olives there are various interesting plants throughout
